New Release/Review: Bach Trio Sonatas (2 Gtrs)

Clear Note Publications recently released Gregg’s arrangements of three Bach Trio Sonatas (BWV 525, 529, 530) for two guitars.  Click here for a preview of these fine works.

There is already a positive review of the Bach Trio Sonatas that appeared online on April 16, 2014:

This arrangement is one for the ages. Gregg Nestor has created a masterful edition of some of Bach’s most sublime music. Everything about this is first rate – the distribution of the parts, the fingerings, and all notational elements combine to make this a “must have” book for every guitarist’s library. Congratulations to Gregg Nestor and to Clear Note for its publication.

New Reviews: Duo Sonidos and Duo Kontaxakis-Ivanovich

We got two very nice reviews recently.  Here is one from Duo Sonidos about our arrangements of Three American Pieces by Lucas Foss for violin and guitar and Danze Sauvage by Szymanowski:

…the Szymanowski came out incredible. We are extremely happy with it, and the Foss as well. … Thank you for your work and for sharing them with us! The new additions are making some interesting programs for us!

William Knuth, violin /Adam Levin, guitar Duo Sonidos

Here is another one from Duo Kontaxakis-Ivanovich about our arrangements of three film music pieces: El Cid (Rózsa), Lydia (Rózsa/Tedesco) and Psycho (Herrmann):

Dear Gregg,

In the name of our Duo, I would like to thank you for sending us your fantastic arrangements and for your kindness of allowing us to play it in concerts. In last 10 days, we gave two recitals, in Tuzla (Bosnia-Herzegovina) and in Belgrade (Serbia) where we performed El Cid, Lydia and Psycho music, and public’s reaction was thrilling!! Everyone loved the music and enjoyed it very much, especially us. It was a pleasure to play it, to work on it and to perform it. You made a fantastic work in orchestrating it and putting it on two guitars. Bravo! I send you the booklet from our concert in Tuzla in pdf. Once again, thank you for everything! Keep in touch.

Yours, Dejan

Rózsa Guitar Sonata Videos

German guitarist Oliver Eidam recently completed a live YouTube video featuring the Rózsa Guitar Sonata, written for me by Hungarian master composer Miklós Rózsa in 1986. (Rózsa wrote the music for such films as “Ben Hur”, “Spellbound” and concert works such as the Violin Concerto commissioned and recorded by Jascha Heifetz.) I am happy to provide the links below to his masterly performance. The Rózsa Guitar Sonata should be in every guitarist’s repertoire.
